July 18th, 2009 Habitat Build Day!

14 July 2009 No Comment

Pledge For Moms is participating in the Habitat build event coming up this Saturday, July 18th. For the first time, we are not going to be working on a new construction project, but on a totally different initiative that is just as life changing. Habitat Critical Home Repair (HCHR) was launched in 2007 and serves economically disadvantaged homeowners in Charlotte, working intensively with families to conduct urgent home repairs. Volunteering this month is an exciting opportunity to learn more about Habitat and the different ways we serve families in need.

On a related note, Habitat Charlotte has been mentioned on MSNBC for it’s efforts to help the local neighborhoods with foreclosed properties. Burt Green, the executive director of Habitat Charlotte commented:

“We’ll be able to get homeowners in em’ for half the cost, it’s a more effective use of our donor funds.”

Come join us for this wonderful event here:

WHEN: Saturday, July 18th, 7 a.m.-12 p.m.

WHERE: 2552 Barringer Drive, Charlotte, NC

Please note that we are going to be working a roof, and if you are uncomfortable with heights, you can feel free to participate in another event!

About Pledge For Moms
Every woman is a daughter and every man is a son – it is our duty to protect and advance the rights of women so that they may have the opportunity to give birth to and raise children in a safe and healthy environment. How would a boy remember his first day of school without her soft kisses and words of encouragement? How will a girl become a woman without her guidance and support? The Pledge For Moms Project is a non-profit website is tailored to encourage the online community to take part in raising awareness of the suffering of our sisters, daughters, and mothers across the globe and to set an example in the community. If you are interested in having a direct impact on decreasing maternal mortality rates in one of the most effected areas in the world, please DONATE to the Save-a-Mother Project. If you would like to become a micro-lender to a poor business-woman in need, make a difference through Kiva.org
